Now we get down to the where and the why of it all.
Bear with me as I only have two pictures right now. This picture shows two prime sets locations. You can see the power
tower in the background, the service road also ends at that point and breaks into
2 heavily used trails. A set where these trails met the service road always produced
well for me.
I am about to dispatch the fox where gasline and the service road for the power line
meet. This was my best set on this location producing double digits of foxes every season
for the 2 weeks we trapped it. The reason it is so good is because, there were 2 major
travelways meeting at one point. SO that any animals travelling either route would run
into one set or the other.
This picture shows a prime
set location. You have a field road coming in from behind Arnold and just to
the right of the fox is a trail coming under the fence. Now a post set at this
spot would be good because it it a travelway, and all foxes will investigate what
other foxes are doing and where they have been. If LEGAL a snare in the trail going
through the fence would be a great idea as well.
